About
The study of renewable generation curtailment projection evaluates the volume of energy produced by renewable sources that is not used by the electric system due to operational restrictions, using detailed electric-energy simulations. Through these simulations, both the curtailment resulting from the energy balance, caused by excess generation in relation to demand, and the curtailment related to electrical reliability, caused by local and systemic restrictions of the electric grid, are estimated. The analysis considers future scenarios of expanding renewable generation capacity and the transmission network, allowing for the quantification of expected levels of generation curtailment and the identification of critical bottlenecks that impact the evacuation of generated energy.
