About NCP 5.29
NCP 5.29 introduces the Alternating Current Optimal Power Flow (AC Optimal Power Flow – OPF) model, developed to address the challenges of the energy transition.
With the growing importance of transmission networks due to the expansion of renewable energy sources, the need for precise and flexible modeling tools has become even greater. The new AC OPF model provides a realistic representation of the network, supporting control and dispatch centers in making informed decisions and ensuring optimized use of energy resources in short-term dispatch planning.
The main enhancements of the AC OPF model include the introduction of nonlinear constraints, accurate representation of voltage levels, tap-changing transformers, improved accuracy in active-power losses, and detailed modeling of reactive-power flows and injections. These advancements are essential for maintaining grid stability and operational efficiency. As a result, NCP 5.29 offers a robust set of tools for transmission-network modeling, supporting system reliability and more effective decision-making.
