What we do
Advanced Modeling for Climate-Dependent Energy Resources
Application of advanced modeling to generate scenarios of hydropower availability, wind, solar generation, and demand variability based on climate projections.
Evaluation of Climate Impacts
Evaluation of impacts on various economic sectors, such as infrastructure assets, considering risks like changing climate profiles and an increased frequency of extreme events.
Generation of Extreme Climate Scenarios from AI Models
Integration with Large Weather Models, such as GraphCast, GenCast, among others, that generate forecasts in minutes using AI hardware, such as GPUs and TPUs. This allows for evaluating a much larger number of scenarios than physical models, facilitating probabilistic analysis and the capture of rare extreme events, which are in the tails of statistical distributions.
Electric System Expansion Planning with Climate Risks
Incorporation of climate projections into the expansion planning and operation of the electric system. Analysis of future scenarios to support strategic decisions in energy generation, transmission, and distribution.
