Time Series Lab - Advanced Renewable Modeling
About TSL 2.1
Time Series Lab 2.1 introduces the Dynamic Line Rating (DLR) feature, designed to reduce congestion in transmission lines, optimize asset utilization, improve efficiency, and lower costs. By dynamically adjusting the assumed thermal capacity of overhead transmission lines based on real-time environmental and weather conditions, DLR enhances the integration of solar and wind energy, reduces curtailment of Variable Renewable Energy (VRE) sources, and enables more economical generation dispatch. This feature estimates the maximum thermal capacity for each hour, taking into account changes in temperature, solar irradiation, and wind speed.
In addition, Time Series Lab 2.1 can now operate in stand-alone mode, decoupled from SDDP. This allows users to access TSL’s renewable modeling capabilities without opening the SDDP interface. This improvement facilitates better use of the existing grid by leveraging variations in weather conditions and their effects on the thermal capacity of transmission lines, thereby supporting more efficient and reliable energy distribution.
